Stables Appeal Dismissed

15th December 2005

Effect of the development on the local population of capercaillie could have been serious.

BSCG has received a copy of a letter (dated 6 January) containing the Scottish Ministers' decision on a planning appeal over a development proposed against the local plan in Nethybridge. BSCG provided a full and detailed response opposing the appeal (as indicated in the report produced on December 15 by Philip G Hutchinson BA (Hons) M Phil FRTPI of the Inquiry Reporters Unit). BSCG were represented at the site visit on November 1st and have a copy of this ten page report.

In our letter to the Inquiry Reporters Unit we noted there is no room for complacency about the future of capercaillie in Scotland and the effect of the development on the local population of capercaillie could have been serious. We welcome the view of the Reporter that "absolutely no increased risk to capercaillie can be tolerated" and that "the environmental impact of the development would be unacceptable".
